Marcel Lévesque (Paris, December 6, 1877 – Paris, February 16, 1962) was a French actor and a leading figure of silent cinema. He began his career on the stages of vaudeville and the café-concert, where he developed his comedic talent before transitioning to film. His international fame is inextricably linked to his collaboration with director Louis Feuillade, for whom he played two of his most iconic roles: the loyal and extravagant criminal Oscar-Cloud Mazamette in the celebrated serial *Les Vampires* (1915-1916) and the private detective Cocantin in *Judex* (1916). Specializing in eccentric and good-natured characters, Lévesque successfully transitioned to sound film, continuing a prolific career as a character actor in dozens of films until the 1950s, including *Fric-Frac* (1939). His contribution, characterized by his unmistakable facial expressions and screen presence, made him one of the most recognizable and beloved faces of early French cinema, consolidating his status as a versatile and pivotal actor for the cinema of his time.
