
Marco Paolini
Marco Paolini, born in Belluno in 1956, is an Italian actor, director, and playwright, considered one of the leading exponents of narrative theatre. His career, which began in the 1970s, is characterized by a style that combines meticulous historical research, civic engagement, and a strong autobiographical component, often using the Venetian dialect. He rose to national prominence in 1997 with the television broadcast of *Il racconto del Vajont*, a monologue reconstructing the 1963 tragedy, which became a media and cultural event of enormous impact. His most significant works also include *I-TIGI Canto per Ustica*, the *Album* series, dedicated to collective and personal memory, *Ausmerzen. Vite indegne di essere vissute*, about the Nazi eugenics policy, and *Nel tempo degli dei. Il calzolaio di Ulisse*. For his work, he has received numerous awards, including several Ubu Awards, Italy's most prestigious theatre prize, which have solidified his role as a central figure on the contemporary scene.
