Margarita Lozano
Margarita Lozano (Tetuán, 14 February 1931 – Lorca, 7 February 2022) was a Spanish actress and a prominent figure in European auteur cinema. She gained international recognition in the 1960s, collaborating with directors such as Luis Buñuel, for whom she played Ramona in *Viridiana* (1961), and Sergio Leone, in the role of Consuelo Baxter in *A Fistful of Dollars* (1964). Her career was deeply linked to Italy, where she also worked with Pier Paolo Pasolini on *Pigsty* (1969). After a long hiatus from acting, she returned to cinema through an intense artistic partnership with the Taviani brothers, for whom she acted in seminal works such as *The Night of the Shooting Stars* (1982), *Kaos* (1984), and *The Sun Also Shines at Night* (1990). Her selective yet high-profile filmography earned her significant accolades, including the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts, awarded to her in Spain in 2018 for her contribution to the arts.
