Marie-Claude Roger

Marie-Claude Roger is a French architect and urban planner, best known for her long and fruitful collaboration with architect Roland Castro. Her career has been primarily dedicated to social housing and urban redevelopment, focusing on the transformation of large housing estates (les grands ensembles) and improving the quality of life in working-class neighborhoods. Among her most significant works is the rehabilitation of the Cité de la Muette in Drancy, a project of great historical and social value. She has also worked on major renovation projects in Lorient and other French cities, always seeking to integrate architecture with community needs. For her contribution to architecture, in 1989 she was awarded, along with Castro, the prestigious Grand Prix national de l'architecture, the highest honor for an architect in France. She has also been named a Knight of the Legion of Honour, a testament to her lasting impact on the country's urban and social design.
