Mário Peixoto
Mário Peixoto (1908-1992) was a Brazilian director, screenwriter, and writer, whose film career is inextricably linked to his sole feature film, *Limite* (1931). Considered a masterpiece of silent cinema and a foundational work of the Brazilian avant-garde, the film gained great international critical acclaim despite an initially limited distribution. After this experience, Peixoto did not direct any other films, dedicating himself primarily to writing. He published the novel *O Inútil de Cada Dia* and worked on several screenplays that remained unproduced. His primary recognition lies in the continued celebration of *Limite*, which has been the subject of major restorations and is universally acclaimed as one of the pinnacles of cinema history, solidifying his reputation as the author of a single, monumental work.
