Marion Darlington

Marion Darlington (née Benda) was an American actress and animal sound imitator, known primarily for her remarkable bird calls. Her career is inextricably linked to Walt Disney Studios, for which she provided avian vocal effects in numerous classic animated films from the 1930s to the 1950s. Her most celebrated work is on *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs* (1937), where she gave voice to all the birds that interact with the protagonist, contributing to the creation of iconic scenes. She continued her collaboration with Disney, lending her talent to films such as *Pinocchio* (1940) and *Bambi* (1942), in which her sounds were essential to the forest's atmosphere, and *Cinderella* (1950), where she voiced the little birds that help the protagonist. Although her name did not often appear in the credits, her contribution was fundamental. For her pioneering role in the art of vocal sound effects, she was posthumously named a Disney Legend in 2004.
