
Martha Hyer
Martha Hyer (1924-2014) was an American actress, primarily active in the 1950s and 1960s. She reached the peak of her career with the Vincente Minnelli film *Some Came Running* (1958), for which she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her filmography includes significant roles in successful films such as *Sabrina* (1954), *Houseboat* (1958), *The Carpetbaggers* (1964), and the Western *The Sons of Katie Elder* (1965), in which she starred alongside John Wayne. Known for her elegance and sophisticated beauty, she often portrayed high-society characters, who were sometimes aloof and complex. In the later years of her career, she also worked in European productions before retiring from acting in the mid-1970s, following her marriage to producer Hal B. Wallis.
