Mary Tyler Moore was an American actress, producer, and television icon. She rose to fame in the 1960s playing Laura Petrie on *The Dick Van Dyke Show*, a role that earned her two Emmy Awards and redefined the image of the television housewife with its comedic flair and modern style. Her greatest success came with her eponymous sitcom, *The Mary Tyler Moore Show* (1970-1977), in which she starred as Mary Richards, a single, independent, career-driven woman—a revolutionary character for the time who became a feminist icon. The series, produced by her production company MTM Enterprises, won her an additional four Emmys.
