Mary Vivian Pearce

Mary Vivian Pearce is an American actress, an iconic figure and founding member of the "Dreamlanders," the legendary troupe of actors favored by director John Waters. A Baltimore native and a childhood friend of Waters, Pearce holds a unique distinction: she is the only performer to have appeared in every single one of the director's films, from his early experimental shorts in the 1960s (like Hag in a Black Leather Jacket) to his final feature, A Dirty Shame (2004). Although often in supporting roles, her presence is fundamental to Waters' "trash" universe, where she embodies memorable characters with a bizarre elegance. Among her most notable roles are Cotton, Crackers' egg-obsessed companion in Pink Flamingos (1972), the snobbish Donna Dasher in Female Trouble (1974), and the villainous Muffy St. Jacques in Desperate Living (1977), cementing her status as the true "queen mother" of Waters' cinema.
