Masahiro Kanetake
Masahiro Kanetake is a Japanese jurist and scholar, Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Tokyo. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Asia-Pacific Journal of International Law. His academic research focuses on public international law, with a particular emphasis on international security law, the role of the United Nations Security Council, and the complex relationship between domestic and international law. He has authored and edited numerous publications analyzing the domestic implementation of international norms, especially in matters of sanctions and counter-terrorism. For his contributions to the field, he was awarded the prestigious Gakkai Prize (Shōrei Prize) by the Japanese Society of International Law, one of the highest honors for scholars in the country. He has also held positions as a visiting professor at several international academic institutions, consolidating his reputation as one of the leading experts of his generation.
