
Masatoshi Nagase
Masatoshi Nagase, born in Miyazaki in 1966, is a Japanese actor and photographer. His film career began in the 1980s, but he gained international recognition for his leading role in Jim Jarmusch's *Mystery Train* (1989), with whom he would collaborate again on *Paterson* (2016). In his home country, he established himself with intense performances for prominent directors such as Yōji Yamada, in films like *My Sons* (1991) and *The Hidden Blade* (2004). Among his most internationally acclaimed roles is his performance in Naomi Kawase's *Sweet Bean* (2015). His acting versatility has earned him numerous accolades, including several Japan Academy Prizes for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Alongside his film career, he also pursues a successful career as a photographer, exhibiting his work in various exhibitions.
