Mathieu Ly
Mathieu Ly is a French-Senegalese director, screenwriter, and actor. He began his career directing short films and the successful web series *Les Mythos*, which he co-created and was subsequently adapted into a feature film in 2011. His most acclaimed work is the 2016 drama film *Wùlu*, a thriller set in Mali that follows a young man's rise in the world of drug trafficking. The film received international critical acclaim and was screened at prestigious film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). With this film, Ly consolidated his reputation as a prominent director in contemporary African cinema. The film also garnered major accolades, such as the Best Male Performance award for its lead actor, Ibrahim Koma, at the 2017 FESPACO festival.
