Michael Elphick (Chichester, 19 September 1946 – London, 7 September 2002) was a British actor. Known for his versatility and his characteristic gravelly voice, he had a prolific career spanning theatre, film, and television. His most famous role was that of the private detective Ken Boon in the television series "Boon" (1986-1992), which brought him great popularity in the United Kingdom. For his acclaimed performance in the BBC miniseries "Private Schulz" (1981), he received a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actor. Among his most significant film roles are those in "Quadrophenia" (1979), David Lynch's "The Elephant Man" (1980), and "The Fourth Protocol" (1987). In the final years of his career, he played the controversial character of Harry Slater in the popular soap opera "EastEnders," further cementing his fame with the general public.
