Michael Moore is an American filmmaker, documentarian, and author, known for his satirical and provocative style. He gained international recognition in 1989 with his first documentary, *Roger & Me*, which examined the impact of the closure of General Motors plants on his hometown of Flint. His career is marked by influential and award-winning works. In 2002, he won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for *Bowling for Columbine*, an investigation into gun culture in the United States. Two years later, his film *Fahrenheit 9/11*, a critique of the Bush administration and the war on terrorism, won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, becoming one of the highest-grossing documentaries in cinema history.
