
Mihalis Giannatos
Mihalis Giannatos (Constantinople, July 11, 1941 – Athens, September 17, 2013) was a Greek actor known for his long and prolific career in film, television, and theatre. His origin and multilingualism were instrumental in his career: born to a Greek family in Turkey, he spoke fluent Turkish, a skill that allowed him to secure prominent international roles. He achieved global recognition for his portrayal of the translator in the cult film *Midnight Express* (1978), directed by Alan Parker. Among his other international collaborations, his work with Steven Spielberg in the film *Munich* (2005) stands out. In Greece, he was one of the most respected and recognizable character actors, working with prominent directors such as Theo Angelopoulos and appearing in hundreds of productions. Although he did not receive major international awards, his recognition lies in his extensive filmography and his status as a memorable face of Greek cinema, appreciated for his versatility and his unique features.
