Mihály Ráday
Mihály Ráday (Budapest, June 11, 1942 – July 16, 2021) was a Hungarian art historian, cinematographer, television director, and politician. He is considered a key figure in the protection of Hungary's architectural and cultural heritage. His fame is primarily linked to the television series *Unokáink sem fogják látni* (Not even our grandchildren will see it), which he created and directed starting in 1980. The program, which ran for decades, documented the dilapidated condition of historic buildings, raising public awareness and promoting their restoration. In 1982, he was a co-founder of the Association of City and Village Protectors (Város- és Faluvédők Szövetsége – Hungaria Nostra), serving as its long-time president. Also active in politics after 1989, he was a member of the Hungarian Parliament for the Alliance of Free Democrats. For his tireless work, he received the highest state awards, including the Széchenyi Prize in 2004 and the Kossuth Prize in 2014.
