Miyoko Asada is a Japanese actress, singer, and *tarento*. Born in Tokyo in 1956, she debuted in 1973 as a J-pop idol with the hit single "Akai Fuusen" (Red Balloon), which earned her the Best New Artist award at the Japan Record Awards. Following her initial success, she embarked on a prolific acting career, becoming particularly known for her role as Michiko Hamasaki in the popular and long-running film series *Tsuribaka Nisshi* (Diary of a Fishing Fool). For this performance, she won the Japan Academy Film Prize for Best Supporting Actress in 1994.
