Momoko Kôchi
Momoko Kōchi (born Hisako Ōkōchi; 1932–1998) was a Japanese actress known internationally for her iconic role as Emiko Yamane in Ishirō Honda's 1954 cult film *Godzilla*. This performance established her as one of Toho Company's leading figures, leading her to star in other science fiction films from the same studio, including *The Mysterians* (1957) and *Jūjin yuki otoko* (1955). Towards the end of the 1950s, Kōchi gradually moved away from film to focus on her stage and television career, where she remained active for decades. Her enduring connection with the character that made her famous was celebrated in 1995 when she reprised the role of Emiko in *Godzilla vs. Destoroyah*, which was her final film appearance. Although she did not win major formal awards, her contribution to *kaiju* cinema has earned her lasting recognition as one of the genre's first heroines, securing her a permanent place in film history.
