Mona Dol

Mona Dol, pseudonym of Amona Dol, was a French actress primarily active during the silent film era and the early years of sound film. Her career is inextricably linked to director Marcel L'Herbier, who directed her in leading roles. Among her most celebrated performances is that of Baroness Sandorf in the silent film masterpiece *L'Argent* (1928), where her performance was acclaimed for its intensity and charisma. She collaborated again with L'Herbier in *Le Mystère de la chambre jaune* (1930) and its sequel, *Le Parfum de la dame en noir* (1931), consolidating her fame. Another significant role was in Julien Duvivier's film *La Tête d'un homme* (1933), based on a novel by Simenon. Thanks to her screen presence and her participation in artistically significant films, Mona Dol is recognized as one of the prominent female figures of interwar French cinema, who successfully managed the transition from silent to sound film.
