
Moni Ovadia
Salomone "Moni" Ovadia, born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, in 1946, is an Italian actor, playwright, writer, composer, and singer. His artistic work is deeply rooted in Yiddish culture and music, which he reinterprets in a contemporary style through the genre of musical and narrative theater. He achieved national fame with the show *Oylem Goylem* (1993), a work emblematic of his style that combines klezmer music, irony, and reflections on diaspora and identity. His many other works include *Dybbuk*, *Mappamondi*, and *Cabaret Yiddish*, often performed with his TheaterOrchestra, which he founded. An author of several books, his work is also characterized by a strong civic and political commitment to intercultural dialogue and peace. For his artistic and social contributions, he has received important awards, including the Seal of Peace from the city of Florence and the honor of Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
