Monica Evans

Monica Evans is a British actress, born in 1940, best known for her role as Cecily Pigeon. She first portrayed this character in the original Broadway play *The Odd Couple* (1965) by Neil Simon, acting alongside Carole Shelley as her sister Gwendolyn. The pair of actresses reprised their roles in both the 1968 film adaptation, starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, and the first season of the subsequent eponymous television series. Evans' career also includes significant voice work for classic Disney animated features: she voiced the goose Abigail Gabble in *The Aristocats* (1970)—once again paired with Shelley, who voiced her sister Amelia—and the character of Maid Marian in *Robin Hood* (1973). After these successes, she largely retired from acting. Her recognition is tied to her iconic portrayal of the Pigeon sisters and her vocal contributions to films that have become milestones of family cinema.
