Muzaffer Özdemir
Muzaffer Özdemir was a Turkish actor, known primarily for his collaborations with director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. An engineer by training, he made his film debut with a role in the director's first feature film, *Kasaba* (1997), followed by *Clouds of May* (*Mayıs Sıkıntısı*, 1999). His international fame is linked to his role as Mahmut in the film *Uzak* (2002), also directed by Ceylan. For this acclaimed performance, he received the most significant award of his career, the Best Actor award at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, shared ex aequo with his co-star Mehmet Emin Toprak. Although his filmography is not extensive, his figure remains inextricably linked to a crucial moment in Turkish auteur cinema and to the international success of Ceylan's early works, for which he was an emblematic face.
