
Naima Wifstrand
Naima Wifstrand (1890-1968) was a Swedish actress, singer, and director. She began her career as an acclaimed operetta singer, becoming one of the greatest stars of Swedish musical theatre between the 1920s and 1940s, and also worked as a stage director. In the latter part of her career, she established herself as a character actress in film, achieving international fame through her collaborations with director Ingmar Bergman. She played memorable roles in films such as *Smiles of a Summer Night* (1955), as the matriarch Armfeldt, *Wild Strawberries* (1957), in the role of the protagonist Isak Borg's mother, and *The Magician* (1958). Her long and versatile career is a testament to her ability to successfully transition from the musical theatre stage to dramatic roles in auteur cinema, solidifying her status as one of the most respected actresses of her time in Sweden.
