Nelly Borgeaud (Geneva, 29 November 1931 – Creuse, 14 July 2004) was a Swiss-naturalized French actress. Her career developed predominantly in France, where she established herself as one of the most acclaimed stage performers of her generation, working with directors such as Jean-Louis Barrault and becoming a member of the prestigious Comédie-Française. Alongside her stage work, she embarked on a significant film career, collaborating with internationally renowned filmmakers. Her collaboration with François Truffaut is particularly noteworthy; he directed her in films such as "A Gorgeous Girl Like Me" (1972) and "The Man Who Loved Women" (1977). She also acted for Alain Resnais in the acclaimed "My American Uncle" (1980) and for Bertrand Tavernier in "Coup de Torchon" (1981). For her performance in "The Man Who Loved Women," she received a César Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, an honor for which she was nominated again the following year for the film "Le Sucre" (1978).
