Nicholas Amer

Nicholas Amer (1923–2019) was a British actor whose career spanned over six decades across theatre, film, and television. A founding member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in 1960, he was noted for his stage presence in numerous prestigious productions, consolidating his reputation as a versatile character actor. On the big screen, he appeared in notable international films such as *The Message* (1976), the science fiction cult classic *The Fifth Element* (1997), where he played President Lindberg, and *A Knight's Tale* (2001). Possessing a deep and distinctive voice, he also worked as a voice actor, lending his voice to the Chancellor in Jim Henson's fantasy film *The Dark Crystal* (1982). His long and prolific career also includes appearances in major television series, including *Fortunes of War* and *The Borgias*, testifying to his continued activity into his later years.
