Nico Pepe
Nico Pepe (Udine, 19 January 1907 – Udine, 13 August 1987) was an Italian actor, director, and theatre teacher, a leading figure of 20th-century theatre. His artistic career began on the stage, where he collaborated with acclaimed directors such as Giorgio Strehler and Luchino Visconti, establishing himself as a versatile performer. At the same time, he was very active in cinema, appearing in over one hundred films, often in memorable character roles, under the direction of masters such as Federico Fellini, Mario Monicelli, and Steno. However, his most lasting contribution was in the field of theatre education: he was a renowned teacher of diction and acting at the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome. His commitment to training culminated in the founding of the Civic School of Dramatic Arts in his hometown of Udine, an institution that today bears his name as the "Nico Pepe" Civic Academy of Dramatic Arts, in perpetual recognition of his fundamental contribution to Italian theatre culture.
