Nikolay Burlyaev

Nikolay Petrovich Burlyaev (born in Moscow, August 3, 1946) is a Russian actor and film director. He achieved international fame at a very young age as the protagonist in Andrei Tarkovsky's film *Ivan's Childhood* (1962), a performance that earned him worldwide critical acclaim. His collaboration with the renowned director continued with the role of Boriska in *Andrei Rublev* (1966). His acting career includes roles in notable films such as Sergei Bondarchuk's *War and Peace* (1966) and *The Master and Margarita* (1994), in the role of Yeshua Ha-Notsri. Beginning in the 1980s, he also took up directing, directing and starring in the biographical film *Lermontov* (1986). He is also the founder and president of the "Zolotoy Vityaz" (The Golden Knight) international film festival. For his contribution to Russian art, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation in 1996.
