
Ortrud Beginnen
Ortrud Beginnen (Hamburg, 5 February 1938 – Stuttgart, 19 January 1999) was a German theater, film, and television actress, known for her strong stage presence and political commitment. A co-founder of the Trivial-Theater in Hamburg, she established herself as a charismatic interpreter of Bertolt Brecht's plays and as the star of acclaimed solo shows, including "Ich will deine Kameradin sein." Her film career included collaborations with major directors of the New German Cinema, such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder ("Bolwieser") and Margarethe von Trotta ("Marianne and Juliane"). For her performance in the film "Das Brot des Bäckers" (1976), she received the Deutscher Filmpreis for Best Supporting Actress. Other accolades she received during her career include the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis for cabaret and the prestigious Adolf Grimme Prize for television.
