
Oscar Martínez
Oscar Martínez (Buenos Aires, October 23, 1949) is an Argentine actor, playwright, and theater director. Considered one of the most important performers in his country, he began his career in theater, where he also established himself as a writer and director. He achieved international recognition later in life thanks to impactful film roles. His most celebrated performances include roles in *Wild Tales* (*Relatos salvajes*, 2014), *The Distinguished Citizen* (*El ciudadano ilustre*, 2016), and *Official Competition* (*Competencia oficial*, 2021), alongside Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas. For his performance in *The Distinguished Citizen*, he received the highest accolade of his career, the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival. He has also received numerous other awards, including the Platino Awards and the Sur Awards, solidifying his status as a leading figure in Ibero-American cinema.
