Ousseynou Diop
Ousseynou Diop, born in Dakar in 1946, is a Senegalese writer and playwright. A French teacher by profession, he has established himself as one of the most significant voices in post-independence Senegalese theater. His works, written in French, critically explore the contradictions of contemporary society, addressing themes such as corruption, social inequality, and the challenges of development. His most celebrated work is the play *Le Démon de la corruption*, published in 1977. For this work, he received the prestigious Grand Prix du Président de la République pour les Lettres, Senegal's most important literary award, solidifying his reputation both nationally and internationally. His other plays include *L'Engrenage*. His literary output is considered an important testament to the socio-political dynamics of Senegal and a fundamental contribution to Francophone African literature.
