Ovidiu Pîrșan
Ovidiu Pîrșan is a Romanian musician and percussionist, primarily known for being the drummer of the legendary rock band Phoenix during its most successful period. Joining the group in 1971, he significantly contributed to the band's sound, participating in the creation of seminal Romanian rock albums such as *Cei ce ne-au dat nume* (1972), *Mugur de fluier* (1974), and the progressive masterpiece *Cantofabule* (1975). His career is also marked by his courageous escape from the Romanian communist regime in 1977, when, along with the other members, he hid in the band's amplifiers to escape to West Germany. Although he left the band a few years later, his impact on Romanian music remains fundamental. For his artistic contribution, in 2007 he was awarded, along with the other historic members of Phoenix, the Order of Cultural Merit with the rank of Knight by the President of Romania.
