
Pai Ying
Pai Ying (白鷹), the stage name of Pai Kuo-Liang (白國樑), is a Taiwanese actor born in 1942. He became a prominent figure in Hong Kong and Taiwanese cinema during the 1970s, especially in the wuxia and kung fu genres. He is best known for his collaborations with director King Hu in critically acclaimed films such as *A Touch of Zen* (1971), as Officer Shih, and *The Valiant Ones* (1975). His screen presence and ability to portray both heroic roles and ambiguous, ruthless characters made him an iconic face of the era. His filmography also includes successful productions such as *Hapkido* (1972), alongside Angela Mao. For his performance in the political drama *The Coldest Winter in Peking* (1981), he won the prestigious Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor, solidifying his status as a versatile and respected actor in Chinese-language cinema.
