**Patricia Collinge (1892-1974)** was an Irish-American actress, known for her versatility across theater and film.
While having a more extensive theater career, she also distinguished herself in film, where she was praised for her intense and nuanced performances. She is best remembered for her role as Birdie Hubbard in *The Little Foxes* (1941), which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In this film, she portrayed a fragile and victimized woman, marked by alcoholism and abuse.
Equally memorable was her Emma Newton, the sweet and unsuspecting mother, in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller *Shadow of a Doubt* (1943).
