
Patty Duke
Anna Marie "Patty" Duke was an American actress whose career began at a young age and was distinguished by her notable versatility. She achieved international fame for her portrayal of Helen Keller in the Broadway stage production and subsequent film adaptation of *The Miracle Worker* (1962). For this role, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of sixteen, making her the youngest person at the time to receive an Oscar in a competitive category. Her success continued on television with the popular sitcom *The Patty Duke Show* (1963–1966), in which she played the dual role of identical cousins. Her filmography also includes titles such as *Valley of the Dolls* (1967). Throughout her career, she received numerous other accolades, including three Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes, for her acclaimed performances in television productions. She also served as president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1985 to 1988.
