
Patty McCormack
Patricia "Patty" McCormack, born Patricia Ellen Russo, is an American actress who became famous as one of the best-known child actresses of her generation. Her fame is inextricably linked to the role of Rhoda Penmark, the diabolical child protagonist in the thriller *The Bad Seed*. She portrayed the character first on Broadway in 1954 and then in the 1956 film adaptation directed by Mervyn LeRoy. For this performance, at just eleven years old, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her career has continued steadily, although without replicating her initial success, through numerous television guest roles in series such as *Dallas* and *The Sopranos*, and appearances in films such as *Frost/Nixon* (2008) and *The Master* (2012). For her contribution to the film industry, she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
