Peter Jeffrey (Bristol, 18 April 1929 – London, 25 December 1999) was a British actor, known for his deep baritone voice and imposing stage presence. His prolific career spanned theatre, film, and television, working with prestigious companies such as the Bristol Old Vic and the Royal Shakespeare Company. In film, he is primarily remembered for the role of Inspector Trout in the cult films *The Abominable Dr. Phibes* (1971) and its sequel, *Dr. Phibes Rises Again* (1972). His other significant performances include the headmaster in Lindsay Anderson's *If....* (1968), Ahmet in *Midnight Express* (1978), and the Sultan in Terry Gilliam's *The Adventures of Baron Munchausen* (1988). In television, he appeared in numerous successful productions, including two different stories of the classic series of *Doctor Who* and the sitcom *Porridge*, demonstrating great versatility in playing both dramatic and comedic roles.
