
Peter Kassovitz
Peter Kassovitz, born in Budapest in 1938, is a Hungarian-born French director, screenwriter, and actor. After fleeing Hungary following the 1956 revolution, he settled in France, where he built his career primarily in television. He directed numerous films and series for French television, gaining significant international recognition with an International Emmy Award win in 1995 for his TV film *Les Récidivistes*. On the big screen, his most internationally recognized work is the Hollywood film *Jakob the Liar* (1999), a Holocaust drama starring Robin Williams. In addition to directing, he has occasionally appeared as an actor, often in films directed by his son, the renowned director and actor Mathieu Kassovitz. His work is characterized by a particular focus on historical dramas and social themes, treated with a rigorous and sensitive style.
