Peter Van Eyck

**Peter Van Eyck (1911-1969)** was a German actor known for his charismatic presence and his ability to portray complex and often enigmatic characters. His career began in Hollywood, where he was often cast as German officers or ambiguous figures during World War II.

After the conflict, his work predominantly focused on Europe, solidifying his fame. Van Eyck excelled at portraying detached yet intense figures: secret agents, intellectuals, or antagonists with a cold and calculating demeanor, imbued with a subtle aura of unease.

Among his most significant films are masterpieces such as Henri-Georges Clouzot's *Le Salaire de la Peur* (The Wages of Fear, 1953), where he delivers a memorable performance as Bimba, and the war epic *The Longest Day* (1962). Also notable are *The Spy Who Came in from the Cold* (1965) and Fritz Lang's *Die 1000 Augen des Dr. Mabuse* (The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse, 1960).
