
Peter Weller
Peter Weller, born on June 24, 1947, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, is an American actor, director, and art historian. He is internationally known for his role as police officer Alex Murphy in Paul Verhoeven's science fiction film *RoboCop* (1987), which earned him a Saturn Award nomination. His film career also includes leading roles in cult films such as *The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension* (1984) and David Cronenberg's *Naked Lunch* (1991). Also active in television, he has appeared in series such as *24*, *Dexter*, and *Sons of Anarchy*, where he has also worked as a director. As a director, he received an Academy Award nomination in 1994 for the short film *Partners*. In addition to his artistic career, Weller earned a Ph.D. in Italian Renaissance Art History from UCLA and has also taught at the university level.
