Philip Sparke, born in London in 1951, is a British composer and musician, internationally recognized as one of the most influential figures in the repertoire for wind bands and brass bands. After studying composition, trumpet, and piano at the Royal College of Music, he has dedicated his career to musical composition, becoming a prolific composer whose works are performed worldwide. His output ranges from educational pieces for young ensembles to complex competition works. His most celebrated works include *Dance Movements*, *The Year of the Dragon*, *Orient Express*, and *Music of the Spheres*. His music is appreciated for its engaging melodic writing, rhythmic energy, and brilliant orchestration. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including three wins in the European Broadcasting Union's New Music for Band Competition and the prestigious Ostwald Award from the American Bandmasters Association, which he won for his piece *Dance Movements*.
