Pierre Moncorbier, born Pierre Gros (Villefranche-sur-Saône, March 10, 1907 – Paris, April 27, 1978), was a French actor. A prolific character actor, he was an indispensable figure in 20th-century French cinema and theater. His stage career was notable, particularly as a member of the renowned Jean-Louis Barrault and Madeleine Renaud company. On the big screen, he is remembered for his numerous appearances in masterpieces directed by the greatest directors of the era. His best-known roles include those in Marcel Carné's *Les Visiteurs du soir* (1942) and *Les Enfants du paradis* (1945), Henri-Georges Clouzot's *Le Corbeau* (1943), and Jean Cocteau's *La Belle et la Bête* (1946). Thanks to his distinctive physical appearance and voice, he specialized in supporting roles, effectively portraying eccentric, anxious, or meticulous characters. Although he did not receive major awards, his contribution is recognized as fundamental to the atmosphere and richness of numerous classic films.
