Pierre Zimmer
Pierre Zimmer (Paris, December 15, 1927 – Toulouse, May 22, 2010) was a French actor, director, and screenwriter. He began his career as an actor, distinguishing himself in supporting roles in notable films such as Jacques Becker's *The Hole* (1960) and Jean-Pierre Melville's *Le Doulos* (1962). At the same time, he also worked as a director, helming the feature film *Donnez-moi dix hommes désespérés* (1962), which was presented in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival. After a period of lower activity, he returned to prominence late in his career with his role in François Ozon's film *Under the Sand* (2000). For this performance, he received his most important award, the César Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2001, crowning a versatile and significant career in French cinema of the second half of the 20th century.
