Pir Marini

Pir Marini, born in Subiaco in 1937, is a leading figure in Italian urban planning and architecture of the second half of the twentieth century. His career has developed between academic activity, as a full professor of Urban Planning at the University Institute of Architecture of Venice (IUAV), and an intense professional and cultural commitment. For a long time, he was the director of the prestigious journal *Urbanistica*, the publication of the National Institute of Urban Planning (INU), significantly influencing the disciplinary debate in Italy. His most important works include the General Regulatory Plans for numerous cities, with his fundamental contribution to the plan for Rome being a standout, as well as those for Ancona and Ascoli Piceno. He also coordinated the reconstruction plans following the 1976 Friuli earthquake, a crucial experience in his professional practice. For his extensive theoretical and practical contribution, he has received major awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Institute of Urban Planning.
