Randolph Scott

Randolph Scott was an American actor whose career spanned over three decades, from the 1920s to the early 1960s, making him one of the most recognizable icons of Western cinema. Although he began his career acting in various genres, including romantic comedies and war films, his fame is inextricably linked to the role of the stoic, principled, and laconic Western hero. Starting in the late 1940s, he dedicated himself almost exclusively to this genre, becoming one of its biggest box-office stars. Fundamental to his artistic legacy was the series of seven low-budget yet psychologically profound Westerns directed by Budd Boetticher between 1956 and 1960. He concluded his career with a memorable performance in Sam Peckinpah's twilight classic *Ride the High Country* (1962). Despite never receiving an Oscar nomination, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers for his lasting impact on the genre.
