Ray Winstone (born 19 February 1957) is an English actor, known for his "tough guy" roles and intense screen presence, often associated with his London accent. After a brief career as an amateur boxer, he rose to fame with the controversial prison drama *Scum* (1979). His career had a major breakthrough with his acclaimed performance in Gary Oldman's *Nil by Mouth* (1997), which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor.
