Renato Malavasi

Renato Malavasi (Verona, August 8, 1904 – Rome, October 7, 1998) was an Italian actor, considered one of the most prolific and recognizable character actors in national cinema. His career, which spanned over fifty years, began in revue theater and vaudeville before he established a permanent presence on the big screen. With a filmography of over 180 films, he specialized in supporting roles, skillfully and ironically portraying figures such as butlers, notaries, hoteliers, and fussy officials. His presence was a constant in the *commedia all'italiana* genre, and he collaborated with its leading directors, including Mario Monicelli in *I soliti ignoti*, Steno in *Un americano a Roma*, and Federico Fellini in *Amarcord*. Although he did not receive any major awards, his greatest recognition is his status as an indispensable and familiar face, capable of lending authenticity and depth to dozens of Italian cinema masterpieces. He was also active in television productions, solidifying his image in the collective imagination.
