René Murat Auberjonois (New York, June 1, 1940 – Los Angeles, December 8, 2019) was an American actor and voice actor. A theater-trained actor, he had a prolific career on Broadway, where he won a Tony Award in 1970 for his performance in the musical *Coco*, later receiving further nominations. In film, he is known for his collaboration with director Robert Altman, appearing in films such as *M*A*S*H* (as Father Mulcahy), *McCabe & Mrs. Miller*, and *The Player*. He also provided the voice for the character of Chef Louis in the Disney animated classic *The Little Mermaid*. His fame is primarily linked to the small screen, thanks to iconic roles such as Clayton Endicott III in the sitcom *Benson*, the shapeshifting security chief Odo in *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine*, and Paul Lewiston in *Boston Legal*. For his television career, he earned two Emmy Award nominations, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and critically acclaimed actor.
