Renji Ishibashi, born in 1941, is a veteran Japanese actor and voice actor whose career began in the 1960s in avant-garde theater with the Jōkyō Gekijō company. Known for his stage presence and versatility, he has appeared in over 300 film and television productions, frequently collaborating with internationally renowned directors such as Takashi Miike on films like *Audition*, *Ichi the Killer*, and *Gozu*, and Takeshi Kitano on the *Outrage* saga. His roles range from authoritative figures and yakuza bosses to eccentric and comedic characters, demonstrating a wide acting range. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performances in *Rōnin-gai* and *Ware ni utsu yōi ari*. In 2014, he was also awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, by the Japanese government for his contributions to the arts.
