Robert Golden Armstrong, known as R.G. Armstrong, was a prolific American character actor, celebrated for his imposing presence and deep voice. Trained at the Actors Studio in New York, he began his career on Broadway before moving to Hollywood. He became a familiar face in Sam Peckinpah's films, with memorable roles in movies such as *Ride the High Country* (1962) and *Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid* (1973). His extensive filmography includes appearances in highly successful films such as *El Dorado* (1966) alongside John Wayne, Warren Beatty's *Reds* (1981), *Predator* (1987), and *Dick Tracy* (1990), where he played the villain Pruneface. Also active in television, he appeared in countless series. For his performance in the supernatural thriller *The Car* (1977), Armstrong won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor, consolidating his reputation as a versatile and incisive performer in American cinema.
