
Richard E. Grant
Richard E. Grant, born Richard Grant Esterhuysen (Mbabane, 5 May 1957), is a Swazi-British actor, director, and screenwriter. He gained international fame with his debut role in the cult film *Withnail & I* (1987), in which he played the eccentric and alcoholic Withnail. His career continued with appearances in films by prominent directors, including Francis Ford Coppola's *Bram Stoker's Dracula* (1992), Martin Scorsese's *The Age of Innocence* (1993), and Robert Altman's *Gosford Park* (2001). Known for his roles as charismatic and often eccentric characters, he has worked in productions such as *Logan* (2017) and *Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker* (2019). In 2018, his performance as Jack Hock in the film *Can You Ever Forgive Me?* earned him unanimous critical acclaim, receiving nominations for the Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also directed the autobiographical film *Wah-Wah* (2005).
